PATH TO THE FINAL
ROUND ONE
THE first round match was played against Adrigole in Kealkil in bad conditions. This was a low scoring game and ended up 3 points each with Pat McCarthy getting the 1st point and Pat O Driscoll getting 2 frees. Bernie O Neill and Kevin Jer O Sullivan were playing on the Adrigole team.

1ST ROUND REPLAY
In the replay Bantry won rather easily on a scoreline of 3-8 to Adrigole’s 9 points. Half time score was 4-3 to Adrigole. However Declan Barron got an two 2nd half goals to set them on their way with Pat McCarthy getting the other one.

ROUND TWO
The 2nd round match was against Millstreet at Ballyvourney where The Blues easily overcame the opposition on a score of 3-12 to 10 points. Pat ODriscoll was in great form scoring a penalty and several points while Declan Barron and Jeremy Cotter were majestic with Donal Hunt scoring 2 goals

QUARTER FINAL
Bantry then played Castlehaven in an extremely tight contest in Skibbereen. Jeremy Cotter had gone to the U.S. and Donal Hunt could not start while Declan Barron didn’t play up to his usual high standards. Richard Dix got the all important goal which saved Bantry from defeat.
Final Score Bantry Blues 1-8 Castlehaven 11point

QUARTER FINAL REPLAY
The replay was won mainly due to the sheer class of Declan Barron who gave an exhibition along with Vincent McCarthy, Donal Hunt and Pat O Driscoll who scored 6 points.

SEMI-FINAL


In the County Senior semi final The Blues were pitted against Muskerry at Dunmanway. Bantry lost full back Mark Delaney early on through injury who had been playing very well. Bantry didn’t score until the 20 th minute but a goal from Declan Barron just before half time had Bantry leading at half time by 4 points 1-2 to 1 point. Second half points from Pat O Driscoll and sub Frankie Carroll ensured that Bantry were safely through to their 1st ever senior Final.
Final Score : Bantry Blues 1-6 Muskerry 0-6.

THE FINAL

The final was against City Giants Nemo Rangers from Capwell who had a multitude of Cork stars on their team including Billy Morgan, Frank Cogan,Timmy Dalton and Ephie Fitzgerald. Bantry’s cause wasn’t helped by the fact that injuries prevented team captain Vince McCarthy from playing along with Mark Delaney and Gene Lynch who started nonetheless. From the beginning Nemo were always in control and scored a penalty after 6 minutes. The Blues didn’t score until the 24th minute through a good Pat O Driscoll point. That made the score after 27 minutes 2-4 to Nemo 1 point to Bantry but Jeremy Cotter got a couple of points before half time to give Bantry some hope. Bantry’s best players on the day were Finbarr Murphy, Anthony and Pat Delaney, Jeremy Cotter and Mike Cotter.
The final score was Nemo Rangers 3-11 Bantry Blues 0-6.
