Ireland International Rules Squad


The Irish International Rules Team Manager, John O'Keefe, has confirmed the names of eleven players who will definitely be part of the panel to tour Australia next month for the two tests against Australia. The players in question are:

Seamus Moynihan (Kerry) Ciaran Mc Manus (Offaly) Graham Canty (Cork) Anthony Lynch (Cork) Trevor Giles (Meath) Brendan Coulter (Down) Brian Mc Donald (Laois) Sean Martin Lockhart (Derry) Dessie Dolan (Westmeath) Paddy Christie (Dublin) Tadhg Kennelly (Kerry & Sydney Swans)

     There are two debutants in the eleven named. They are Down forward Brendan 
    
Coulter and Laois star Brian "Beano" McDonald who join up with the Irish squad after impressive summers for their respective counties.
The team will be captained by Kerry's Seamus Moynihan as Ireland attempt to win back the series taken by the Australian's in Ireland last year.
There are still a number of players in contention for the 16 remaining places on the tour and the final panel will be confirmed on the week after the
All Ireland football final. The first test will take place in the Subiaco Oval in Perth on Friday October 24th and the 43,000 capacity stadium is already sold out.
The second test will be in the MCG in Melbourne on Friday October 31st and
another large attendance is expected in a stadium which can accommodate 80,000 people. The Irish team is sponsored by Coca Cola.
